In Celtic Druid tradition, a ritual need-fire is created by burning wood from nine sacred trees on the four solar sabbats, namely - Samhain, Imbolc, Beltane and Lughnasadh. Kindled at night, creation of the need-fire represents the art of bringing new light out from the depths of darkness and bringing hidden knowledge into awareness. The Need-Fire bonfire also corresponds to timeless communal untiy with the Ancestors and Divinity in a Sacred Flame of Unity.
