St. John's Eve -June 23rd- 2024-  Marie Laveau Candle & Petition Service
 
Marie Laveau is often petitioned for all manner of blessings in the realms of money, love, relationships, and law. Her encouragement helps lift the veil between worlds, but she also helps in practical matters of the earthy realms. 
 
St. John the Baptist
Blessings abound this month, as June brings one of the most sacred days of the year for many religions and groups—St. John’s Eve. St. John’s Eve falls on June 23rd, the day before St. John’s Day (the 24th), which commemorates the birth of Saint John the Baptist. According to the Bible, John the Baptist, who is one of the most important figures of the Christian faith, was born six months before Jesus. His birth coincides closely with the Summer Solstice, so many of the old pagan customs celebrating Midsummer have been assimilated into practices associated with this day.
 
St. John’s Eve is said to be one of the most important holidays in New Orleans Voodoo. Famed Voodoo Queen Marie Laveau held cleansings at Bayou St. John in the morning and dances at Congo Square in New Orleans in the evening, in honor of the spirits called Loa. Some even believe that Marie Laveau rises from the grave on St. John's Eve in order to take place in these rituals. 
 
St. John's Eve & St. John's Day also play an important role as it is believed that St. John's Eve is the most powerful day of the year for the performing of work, good or bad! The Conjured Saint is offering a group service to honor Saint John and petition a request from Marie Laveau.
